While volunteering for the 2015 Ozark Trail 100 Mile Endurance Race, I had a chance to run a few miles on the Berryman Trail. Considered by many to be the best trail east of the Rockies and west of the Appalachian Mountains. The Berryman Trail will not disappoint. 24 miles of single track with all of the beauty that the Mark Twain National Forest has to offer. Elevation gain is around 1100 feet and I would call the trail semi technical. I would recommend a pair of varied terrain trail shoes when the conditions are dry. This video is a time lapse of 10 miles 5 out and back.
Located near Potosi, MO, the Berryman Trail is about an hour and forty five minutes from St. Louis, MO and two and half hours from Springfield, MO. There are a few campsites and several private lodges near the trail heads.
